Great tips for Getting ready for your move
Most homeowners are overwhelmed by all the excitement of selling and buying a new home, that more often than not they are not prepared for moving day. In this blog we can discuss how everyday families can better prepare themselves for the move. Please check out these great tips for getting ready for your move.

Some sound advice on having a smoother moving day!!!

  1. Get rid of extra junk and clutter in your house.

Before you even list your house on the market, this should be the first step you should take. Not only will this help get rid of unwanted items that have gone unused for many years, it will also make the staging process of your house much simpler.

  2. Start packing your belongings early.

Packing is an important part of moving that most families can handle themselves before the move, but this is time consuming, so leaving this for last minute can cost you extra money. Most moving companies will not move your personal belongings unless they have been properly packed into boxes, and if they do you risk damaging breakable items and it will take the movers more time to pick up all the tiny things around the house, therefore a higher bill at the end of the day.

  3. Make sure you schedule your move ahead of time.

During the moving seasons most moving companies are booked well in advance. Don’t wait until the last week to try and book a move, some companies might even charge a higher rate for last minute moves, so plan ahead wisely.

  4. Make sure all your utilities are transferred to your new home.

Most families move in the summer time, so the last thing you want on moving day is for your movers and your family to move into a blazing hot house without running water and electricity. I’ve seen this happen many times.

  5. Research the moving company before you hire them.

Don’t just allow anyone into your house. Do you due diligence before you choose the moving company. Make sure that they have the proper licensing by the state and check their reviews online from multiple websites. Hiring the cheapest company out there might just cost you more money in the end.

  6. Take care of your movers.

As a guy who has been in the moving business for more than 7 years, there is nothing we movers appreciate than a nice customer who doesn’t yell at you or talk to you with an attitude all day, just because they are paying you money. Remember that you invited these guys to your home to help you for a fee, so treat them with respect and they will do a much better job.
